Leslie Jones hits the road this fall with a stop at the Uptown Theater in Kansas City on Friday, November

1, 2024. Tickets go on sale this Friday (6/21) at 10:00 AM at Ticketmaster.com.
Leslie Jones is a three-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee as well as a Writer’s Guild Award and NAACP Award nominee for her work on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. She has also been honored as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People. Jones recently wrapped production on season two of the HBO Max series OUR FLAG MEANS DEATH. The week of January 17th, 2023, Jones kicked off a new era of THE DAILY SHOW as the program’s first guest host. In 2021, she starred opposite Eddie Murphy in COMING 2 AMERICA for which she won an MTV Movie Award and was nominated for a People’s Choice Award. Jones will next produce an untitled Christmas comedy for Lionsgate which she is currently developing as a potential future starring role. Additionally, Jones co- hosts the podcast THE FCKRY with comedian Lenny Marcus. Each week, Jones and Marcus interview guests and answer listener questions, while exposing “the fckry” of any given topic.

Grateful Dead Tribute : The Schwag will be performing its 25th annual Thanksgiving show in Kansas City at The Uptown Theater on Thursday, November 28. The band started playing this holiday night in Kansas City back in 1999 at the old Grand Emporium Blues club down at 39th & Main. After a few years of selling out this club the band then moved the show over to the larger capacity Uptown Theater on Broadway in 2004. Check out some of the classic set lists down below.

SCHWAG BIO:

The Schwag is a band of musicians dedicated to carrying on the vibe and music of the legendary Grateful Dead. Founded in 1991, The Schwag has performed over 4000 concerts all over the United States. This group has a working song list of over 200 songs from the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia Band catalog. The Schwag has had the privilege of playing with a long list of legendary musicians over the years. For a span of four years, band leader Jimmy Tebeau toured the country as the bass player for JGB (Jerry Garcia Band). The Schwag has opened for many notable acts including String Cheese Incident, Marshall Tucker Band, Leftover Salmon, Sammy Hagar, Little Feat, and Railroad Earth. Some of the guest musicians that have played with The Schwag over the years include Chuck Berry, Bill Nershi from String Cheese Incident, Drew Emmitt and Vince Herman from Leftover Salmon, Butch Trucks from The Allman Brothers Band, Fred Tacket from Little Feat, Mike Gordon from Phish, Doug Wimbish of Living Colour, and Vince Welnick from The Grateful Dead. Honorary band members for full Schwag shows include Merl Saunders, Melvin Seals, Johnnie Johnson, Jason & Travis & Kang from String Cheese Incident, and Devon Allman (Gregg’s son.) For many years, The Schwag has hosted its own “Schwagstock” and “Byrdfest” music festivals, drawing crowds of thousands together several times per summer to enjoy shows from acts such as George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Keller Williams, Big Brother & the Holding Company, New Riders of the Purple Sage, and The Schwag. Schwagstock is coming up on its 52nd event and 29th for Byrdfest in Arkansas.
